A myth about the origin of coffee plant

3:52:00 PM

Legend has it that the coffee plant was first found in Ethiopia from a goatherd named Kaldi. He noticed that when his goats were eating the berries from a specific tree they were more energetic than they used to and could not sleep at night (jumping goats). After making this observation about the unusual conditions of his goats Kaldi decided to try the berries from that ''extraordinary'' plant. Surprisingly he felt more energetic, like his goats. Considered as one of the happiest herders in Arabia, Kaldi said the good news to his wife.

Feeling more awake from the berries Kaldi continued enjoying them when one day the monk of the monastery that was in the village noticed the energy that Kaldi had.At first, the monk assumed that the berries were something evil and that they were sent from the devil so he threw them in the fire when suddenly they noticed the popping beans and the whole monastery was filled with a heavenly smell. The monk who used to face a ''sleeping'' problem with his prayers, decided to eat some berries and was convinced that this was the solution for him,the other monks and their prayers. The good news spread quickly in the monastery about the energizing beans and the monks decided to dry the berries and after that boil them in order to make a nice and tasty beverage keeping them awake.

According to that myth this is how the journey of coffee started around the world and spread so quickly across the globe.
